PLAYER PROFILE RESOURCE SITES
HOW TO USE THESE RESOURCE LINKS
Keep in mind there is a difference between Profile Sites and Profile Services. Sites give the athlete a platform to promote themselves. Services try to do all the promotion for the athlete. Given how confusing the recruiting process can get, Profile Services can seem like a great deal. However, the way many of the representatives of these companies conduct themselves can and has turned off many College Coaches and Scouts. So much so, that some of these individuals ignore and avoid contact with these companies. This is a major problem given the thousands parents can spend to get ‘help’ from these companies.
We feel these Player Profile Resources allow Clubs and Teams to best help players advance to the next level. ScoutThem shows Club Directors and Team Coaches how to utilize these profile resources to maximize the exposure of their players.
ScoutThem also works with Players and Parents to help them understand the importance of maximizing the use of these resources to increase their advancement opportunities in addition to the platform we provide.
If Players are using other sites or services they may want to continue. We are not here to tell any Player, Parent, or Team Coach there is only one way or one resource that is best for advancement.
The advancement process relies heavily on the individual Player’s actions (guided by Parents) with the support of their Team Coach and Club Director. We do feel the resources below, when combined with ScoutThem, help Team Coaches and Club Directors become more effective in supporting their player’s advancement.
Remember, no matter what sites or services your players use, the college coaches and scouts will always want to talk directly with the Player’s coach. Having a tool like ScoutThem will allow these conversations to use common information.
Club soccer can get expensive, so we try to recommend resources that will be FREE for your players. If we do suggest a paid service it’s because we believe the benefit is worth the fee.

The key to advancement is exposure. If a college coach or scout is interested in you they will find your coach, either through the contact info you provide or through ScoutThem.

SCOUTINGZONE PLAYER PROFILE
Start with the FREE Go Big plan.
They do have two premium level plans starting at about $100 per year. We always recommend starting with a free or low cost version until you become familiar with the service and can evaluate for yourself if spending the extra money is justified.
One feature missing from the free version is the ability to email college coaches. However, you can easily email any college coach and include the link to your ScoutThem Team page and your ScoutThem profile ‘hub’. Where they will have access to all your profiles and video.
The reason we recommend ScoutingZone is that they are actively working to create partnerships with the largest tournament operators as well as the US Soccer DA Program which helps increase Players’ overall exposure.

NCSA PLAYER PROFILE
NCSA has a free online profile, but it doesn’t provide much and might be more of a launching point to their fee based services.
They offer multiple levels of fee based services which are most likely presented (sold) during the phone consultation. Keep in mind, most if not all of the activities performed by a recruiting service can be completed for free by the Player/ Parent.
It’s the lack of know-how that usually leads Parents to spend a lot on services like this.
NCSA has great information on their website and that is where we suggest Players and Parents start, even before filling out any online NCSA profile.
If after reviewing all the guides they have you feel that full service would be a benefit, then NCSA is worth a deeper look.
Our goal at ScoutThem is to help Clubs/ Teams more effectively work with Players/ Parents on their advancement to the next level while minimizing the extra costs as much as possible.

HIGHLIGHT VIDEO
A quality Highlight Video is essential to a Players’ advancement. It doesn’t need to be overly produced, but it does need to have certain features to maintain the interest of college coaches and scouts.
ScoutThem can help players and and coaches learn what is needed to maintain interest in watching your video to the end.
ScoutThem can also house the videos on its channel in addition to the other player profiles the videos might be connected to.

OPENSHOT VIDEO EDITOR
Often Players/ Parents overthink their highlight video, spending more than necessary to create a video that is over-produced.
While music, graphics, etc. can seem like the “wow” factor the video needs; these can actually turn coaches and scouts off to recruiting the Player.
Basic player information plus quality clips with simple player markers, like a red arrow, are all that’s needed to catch the attention of coaches and scouts.
OpenShot is a FREE video editor that can achieve what is needed to create your highlight video.
Available for both PC and Mac, use this link to review the software HERE
